Starting in March 2016, Mountainview PTA implemented a
new art curriculum called the Great Artist Program.
It uses the great artists of the past
to inspire and teach the great artists of the future.
Students not only learn about great artists,
they are given the skills and confidence to be a great artist.
Every month, students in each class get to learn about a great artist
and create a piece of art inspired by that artist.
Some teachers prefer to teach the lesson themselves,
but others appreciate it when parents volunteer to teach.
If you are interested in teaching a lesson or helping your child’s teacher,
please let him or her know. Training is available.
All lesson plans and materials are provided.
It is very rewarding to be involved in the classroom in this way.
The PTA is excited to help bring art into the classroom at our amazing school.
